Our 1/2″ bowl gouge features a parabolic flute and is made from Hardened and Nitrided high speed steel.  It is shipped sharp and ground with a double bevel.  We use the American method of gouge measurement, which means the shank is 1/2″ diameter. 

Parabolic flutes give a great combination of strength and chip ejection.  They are amenable to finger nail (Ellsworth or Irish) grinds, conventional bowl gouge grinds and the “40/40” grind.
