Parabolic flutes give a great combination of strength and chip ejection. They are amenable to finger nail (Ellsworth or Irish) grinds, conventional bowl gouge grinds and the “40/40” grind.

This 1/2″ bowl gouge is a real work horse and a handy size for almost all bowl turning.  We use the American method of gouge measurement, so the shank is 1/2″
